Where to stay in Yanbu: three areas
If you are wondering where to stay in Yanbu, start with the map in your head rather than a list of names. Yanbu is a governorate on the Red Sea in the region of Medina, and it has three parts that feel different: Yanbu al-Bahr, the historic coast in the north, Yanbu Industrial City, south of it, and Yanbu al-Nakhl in the east, linked with palm groves and springs.
They are not neighbourhoods you can swap. The old town and the Industrial City are separate areas, and the flower festival and the waterfront belong to the Industrial City, not to the old town. We do not name hotels or compare prices here. What follows helps you choose a part of town and then judge a listing yourself.

Yanbu al-Bahr and the old town
The historic coast in the north.
Yanbu al-Bahr is the historic stretch of coast and the area around the old town of al-Sur. Staying here puts you closer to the merchant houses, the lanes and the history described on the old town page. How close depends on the individual address. Ask the host or the property for the exact distance to al-Sur, and do not read a listing that says "old town area" as "everything within walking distance".
In the old town the lanes are narrow and some streets are hard to drive, so ask where guests leave their cars. Check whether the building itself is in a restored part or a modern one next to it. Both can be fine, but they offer different things.
Industrial City and the waterfront
The southern part with the festival garden and the beaches.
Yanbu Industrial City lies south of Yanbu al-Bahr. This is where the waterfront, Al Nawras Island, Yanbu Lake Park and the Events Garden of the flower festival are found; see the beaches page for the coast. The RCJY (the Jubail and Yanbu authority), which runs the city, lists accommodation and beach resorts among its tourism offer, but without rates, so ask each property directly.
A property described as by the sea does not automatically have a private beach or direct water access. Ask what the stretch in front of it is, who may use it and which rules apply there. If you plan to join a water activity, look at the starting point first and choose a place that makes the morning easy.
Yanbu al-Nakhl
Yanbu al-Nakhl lies in the east of the governorate and is linked with palm cultivation and springs. It is inland, away from the coast. You will want a car, because the sights on the coast are some distance away. Read the getting there page for car rental and the routes to Yanbu.
Yanbu hotels: what to check
Before you book a hotel in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia, check the area first and then the details. Ask for the exact location and the distance to the places you care about. Read the cancellation terms, since travel advice for the country is changing. Ask for confirmation of anything you rely on: a pickup, parking, a shuttle, breakfast or accessibility. We cannot say whether a given property offers step-free access, so ask about your needs before you book.
Practical: payment, SIM and Ramadan
A few things that are easier to settle before you arrive.
The currency is the Saudi riyal. According to the Saudi Tourism Authority (status 1 July 2025), cash and cards including Visa and Mastercard are widely used, and so is digital payment. That does not mean every small shop takes cards, so keep some cash with you.
As an example for a SIM card, one mobile operator offers a visitor package with 6 GB and one hour of calls for 31 SAR, and another with 21 GB and two hours for 55 SAR. Each runs for two weeks, and the prices include 15 percent VAT. The offer ends on 27 December 2026. You activate a reserved number in a branch after arrival, and the reservation holds for 30 days. Do not count on a SIM counter at the airport.
During Ramadan, eating, drinking, smoking and chewing gum in public are not acceptable in daytime, even in a car, and opening hours change, so check them separately. Alcohol may not be brought in, and drinking in public is prohibited. More on this is on the visa and rules page.
Whatever you choose, read the current travel advice before booking. For the season, see the best time to visit page, and for what to do once you are there, the tours page.
